Warwick decorating for the holidays for the first time

(WARWICK, GA) – It may not seem like it from Route 300, but the rural community of Warwick is getting to host their first holiday tradition and are decorating the town.

Mayor Juanita Kinchen says that in a rough year, she’s happy to have this for the nearly 400 residents.

She tells us, “My heart is just filled with joy, and I’m just so happy that we could do this. And I hope it uplifts everyone spiritually, because our spirits have been low because of 2020 and the pandemic.”

While in year’s past, the quiet worth county community’s been just that, this year a big change came their way, in the form of a generous thirteen hundred dollar donation.

It’ll be the first time in a long time the town has been able to light up the streets for the holiday.

Mayor Kitchens says, “I’ve never known warwick to be decorated. And we wanted to do something with this pandemic. Everything’s been so crazy, and we just wanted something to uplift everybody.”

With a special look for this holiday season, Mayor Kinchen has big plans for Warwick’s Main Street before Christmas.

“We have one more building that we need to finish up, and get decorated, and we would like to have a drive-thru parade, so we can have the social distancing, and wear your mask. You can walk if you want, just please wear your mask and stay six feet apart…,” she says.

Mayor Kinchen tells us she wants to hold the parade in the next week.
