(ALBANY, GA) – A voter advocacy group has been giving back to the Dougherty County community throughout the week

The group, Woke Vote has been giving to the community in what they’re calling “Black Voter Appreciation Week.”

They partnered with local advocacy groups such as Georgia 9 to 5 and Black Votes Matter to collect toys for the holiday season Wednesday, and early Thursday, they delivered fresh produce to the Boys and Girls Club of Albany.

Woke Vote Directors say that they wanted to give back an educate Dougherty County residents about voting in the upcoming runoff election.

Deputy Regional Director, Casey Simpson tells us, “Coming down here, where I know the poverty level is quite low, just giving back is a passion of mine and my partners as well. Educating ties right in to giving back. Sometimes the keystone of our organization ties into our values.”

The deadline for early voting is December 31st.
