Two killed in Albany crash linked to suspected drag racing
ALBANY, Ga. – Police are investigating a deadly crash linked to suspected drag racing in Albany.
According to the Albany Police Department, the crash happened around 9:41 p.m. on March 21 in the 1900 block of Krug Street.
Investigators say a vehicle involved in drag racing lost control and struck several other vehicles. The driver was identified as 24-year-old Brandon King. Authorities say a second driver involved in the racing left the scene but later returned. That driver, identified as 25-year-old Jacob Daniels Jr., was taken into custody.
Police say two people — 26-year-old Rickey Thomas and a four-year-old child — died as a result of the crash. Two additional victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say more information will be released as it becomes available.
