Two Dougherty County churches at risk for COVID-19 exposure

DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. – At the Dougherty County press conference Tuesday morning, chairman Christopher Cohilas said that COVID-19 has a significant presence in the county in comparison to other communities in the state.
Cohilas says this could be, in part, due to the two large funerals that have happened within the last few weeks.
“We’ve identified a funeral of a gentleman named Johnny Carter, who was a gentleman that had his funeral was here in this community and also the funeral of Andrew Jerome Mitchell we know that those two funerals were heavily attended by members from Gethsemane Worship Center as well as New Direction Christian churches and we know that from speaking with these people, some of the folks that were at these funerals were infected with the virus.”
He urges members of those churches and people who attended the funerals that are symptomatic to call their primary care physician so that proper precautions could be made.
