THOMASVILLE, GA- The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office says the manhunt for a suspect who fled an early morning traffic stop is over, with his capture coming shortly before 1pm today.

Thomas County deputies say a Thomasville police officer tried stopping a vehicle around 5am Thursday morning.

The driver allegedly pulled a rifle at shot at the unidentified officer as the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Authorities have now identified their suspect as Harold Deshawn Alexander.

A nearby school was put on lockdown as officers throw a dragnet on the area, searching for Alexander who police considered “armed and dangerous.”

Deputies say the passenger in the suspect’s vehicle was taken into custody.

Early Thursday afternoon, deputies confirm Alexander’s capture but would not elaborate on how he was taken into custody.
