Today’s Weather Authority Forecast: January 20, 2023
Happy Fri-Yay! Big changes are on the way for the weekend as deep moisture moves northward out of the Gulf of Mexico.
Look for increasing clouds overnight, becoming overcast with a slight chance of rain showers anytime of the day for Saturday.
It will be a cool, dreary start to the weekend. Rain becomes likely, possibly heavy Saturday night into Sunday.
There is a marginal risk of strong-severe t’storms Sunday as the “triple point” (area ahead of the cold front, south of the warm front, and southeast of the low pressure system) moves across the region.
Primary threats are locally heavy rainfall (1″-3″+), damaging wind gusts, but an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out!
Drier and slightly cooler for Monday, but another, perhaps stronger storm system heads our way for late Tuesday into Wednesday.
This storm system has a slightly better potential to bring severe t’storms. There is a slight risk of severe weather for western counties mainly along/west of Hwy 27.
Additionally, more heavy rainfall is possible (1″-3″), and when combined with Sunday’s system could result into minor river flooding.
Stay tuned for updates!
A significant drop in temperatures is expected late next week, with near freezing temperatures possible next Friday morning.
