Tifton celebrates 150 years

TIFTON, GA – The city of Tifton has a wreath filled with pine boughs to pay honor to the city’s founder, Henry H. Tift, on the 100th anniversary of his death.
Tifton Mayor Julie Smith and other members of the Sesquicentennial Planning Committee, Angela Elder with Tifton Tourism, Abbey McLaren, Downtown Development Director, Chamber President and CEO Melody Cowart, and Bruce Green, attended the small ceremony.
The wreath will later be taken to the Oak Ridge Cemetery, where other members of the Tift family are buried.
