Tiftarea Academy wraps annual youth softball camp

CHULA, GA – Earlier today, we took a trip to Chula as TiftArea Academy held its annual Youth Softball Camp, hoping to see if there were any future Panthers in attendance.

Thursday morning was the final day of the four-day camp, which saw over 40 girls from first to eighth grade working with Lady Panthers players and coaches, current and former, on the basic fundamentals of softball: pitching, hitting, fielding, and base running.

On top of improving their skills, the ladies would compete in multiple competitions and games, but of course, on the final day it got cut short due to the rain.

Still, Lady Panthers head coach, Chance Benson, says it’s been a great week, not just for the campers, but for his girls as well.

“It’s huge because it gives these girls an opportunity to see what they can do,” Benson said. “My players love getting to interact with all of our girls, and with us being such a small school, they get to interact with each other, they get to see each other in the hallways every day, and it builds the program.”
