Tiftarea Academy Baseball Makes Quick Work Of The First Round

The Panthers took game one of the doubleheader, 15-0, so our action will begin in game number two. Senior Jayk Sailer digs in during the top of the first inning, with a runner already on third base. He chops one through the right side of the infield and that’s good enough for an RBI single. Tiftarea strikes first for the second consecutive game.

Still in the same inning, junior Logan Moore steps in the batter’s box now, he’s got two runners aboard. He ropes one to right field, here comes both runners. Sailer and Kam Brown will coast in, and Moore pulls up to second base with a standup 2 RBI double. The Panthers lead keeps growing, make it 3-0 now.

Then sophomore Matthew Malone would take a crack at it. He makes contact but it stays in the infield, Ben Matt initially holds at third, but then books it home. The throw home is wild, and the score reads 5-0.

After the offensive explosion the Panthers would eventually take the field, with Sailer on the mound. He’s working the two-strike count and he freezes the hitter with that breaking ball, see ya later. The lefty had it going on.

To the top of the second, Sailer goes from the mound to the batter’s box. He slaps one into the field of play. He’s out at first, but the Auburn commit, Hayden Murphy will score from third. There’s another RBI for Sailer.

But the dagger would come a little later. Bases are loaded up for senior Ben Matt. And he sends that ball to Jupiter. Grand salami for the big fella and that’s a wrap. Tiftarea wins game two by the same score, as game one, 15 to nothing. Panthers will play the winner of Bethlehem Christian and Valwood in round two.
