Tift hosting scrap tire event
TIFTON, GA – The Tift County Board of Commissioners and the Tift County Public Works Department will host a scrap tire amnesty event October 8-9 at the Tift County Public Works Department.
Citizens within the county and its municipalities may bring scrap tires to their location at 2011 Whiddom Mill Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, October 9 and from 8 a.m. and noon Saturday.
Tires from passenger or tractor-trailer vehicles or front and rear farm tractors will be accepted. Unacceptable tires include those for heavy equipment, especially skidders. No tires with rims or those from retail tire dealers or commercial scrap tire generators will be accepted.
The rules for the amnesty event will be strictly enforced with no exceptions. Participating citizens must bring identification to verify residency.
