Third annual “Teddy Toss” at Georgia Southwestern sees 2,000 stuffed animals donated

All stuffed animals were donated to Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center

AMERICUS, GA – The third annual Teddy Bear Toss at Georgia Southwestern saw over 2,000 stuffed animals flood the basketball court during the men’s basketball game.

The fans throw these stuffed animals on the court when the Hurricanes score the first bucket of the game, followed up by student-athletes collecting them and donating them to Phoebe-Sumter’s Women’s and Children’s unit for them to feel a sense of comfort.

A record-breaking 2,000 stuffed animals were donated – 300 more than last year – and the college hopes to go even bigger next year.
