Suspect sought after officer involved shooting in Clinch
One person in custody; another sought after suspect tases officer

HOMERVILLE, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirms it is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Sunday morning in Homerville.
The GBI says Clinch County Sheriff’s deputies as well as the Homerville Police Department were dispatched to a 911 call a little after 10am Sunday, on a report of suspicious persons in a vehicle along Thelma Highway in Homerville.
A traffic stop on the vehicle in question found 50 year old Tracy Alan Guess driving and 42 year old Samuel Reginald Thornton as the passenger.
Police say Guess took off and his vehicle later rammed a Clinch County deputies patrol vehicle in Cogdell on Highway 122.
Thornton allegedly ran from the scene but Guess fought with officers as they tried taking him into custody.
The GBI says Guess was tased multiple times, wrestled a taser from one of the Homerville police officers and shot the officer with his own taser.
The tased officer then used a firearm to shoot Guess in the leg before he was ultimately taken into custody.
Anyone with information on the location of Samuel Reginald Thornton or video of the incident is asked to contact the Homerville Police Department (912) 487-5306, Clinch County Sheriff’s Office (912) 487-5316, or the GBI Douglas Office (912) 389-4103).
