Search warrant ends with arrest, drug seizures, more

CORDELE, GA – According to a press release Friday, detectives from the Cordele Police Department along with direct assistance from other agencies including the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, US Marshalls, and Dooly County joint agency SWAT teams conducted a search warrant at a residence on Westtown Avenue in an effort to apprehend a known gang member.
The juvenile had made credible threats to others and was deemed armed and dangerous. He was arrested at the residence without incident during the service and conduction of the search warrant.
Several items of contraband were recovered and seized. These items included stolen weapons, stolen bank cards, stolen phones, marijuana, cash, and items related to drug distribution. The juvenile is charged with:
Three counts of Theft by Receiving
Three counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime
Two counts of Possession of a handgun by minor
Possession of Marijuana with Intent
Possession of Marijuana within 1000 ft of a school
Possession of Marijuana within 1000 ft of a housing project
Two Counts of Drug Related Objects
Ten Counts of Financial Transaction Card Theft
Forgery 2nd Degree
Street Gang Terrorism Prevention Act violations
The press release from the Cordele PD goes on to state that more than 30 illegal guns have been seized in the last 60 days through the joint efforts of the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office and the Cordele Police Department.
Chief Hathaway and Sheriff Hancock state that behavior like that of the juvenile arrested is neither condoned or tolerated and thank the assisting agencies.
