ALBANY, Ga. – The Procter & Gamble Company (“P&G”) donated 25,000 face masks to support the City of Albany in the Mask Up Albany initiative. This effort is a campaign P&G wholeheartedly supports by producing products for community use and public health.

The campaign was initiated to combat the ongoing global COVID-19 spread by promoting the use of masks when in public.

Masks, when appropriately used, slow down the spread of the virus. A subcommittee from the COVID-19 Taskforce made up of key people in the health, business, and non-profit sectors of the community are leading the initiative.

Sharon D. Subadan, City Manager, expressed, “The Mask Up Albany was a grassroots initiative that has been well received by the community. P&G has been a great community partner, and we are grateful to receive the donation of 25,000 masks. Significant distribution of masks will be made to make sure that those who need them the most will have access.”

P&G officials say their donation will help residents without masks protect themselves, their families and strangers that they may come in contact with while out in public.

John Patteson P&G department leader says, “We have just really tried hard to support our community through this time. We’ve not only just worked with the City of Albany with the 25,000 masks to help with the overall Mask Up Albany campaign, but we’ve also worked to support the Phoebe Foundation with a $200,000 contribution there, along with hand sanitizer to the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, so we’re just trying to ensure that we’re able to support our broader community as best as we can during this time.”

Information on the distribution of these masks will be released later.
