Potent storm system could affect the South again

A POTENT SYSTEM WILL BRING OUR NEXT CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVERNIGHT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY AND WITH IT RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER.

Confidence in a somewhat widespread severe weather continues to grow among forecasters, with the most impactful of weather forecast to reach the area overnight Thursday through Friday Morning.

Higher than usual instability will be present overnight which will couple with strong low-level shear, thus rising the concern for severe weather in the overnight hours.

Overnight storms are the most dangerous as people are not aware of a warning that is issued. Forecasters encourage you to have multiple ways of being alerted, should warnings or watches are to be issued.

  • Test your NOAA Weather Radio
  • Charge your cell phones/laptops
  • Enable the Wireless Emergency Alerts in your smartphone
  • PLAN AHEAD  – Plan with your family the route you would take if a warning is issued to get to your safe place.
  • BE READY TO ACT – Have your safety kit in place and ready, restore any previously used items and be sure to have cash on hand.
