Phoebe names local ambulance company, Gold Star in new transportation agreement
(ALBANY, GA) – Starting Wednesday, the Phoebe Health System has a new ally in patient care, as they’ve come to an agreement with Gold Star Ambulance.
Phoebe Putney CEO, Joe Austin says the decision for Gold Star came down to their history in the area.
“We feel real good about them. Gold Star is local, they were started about 10 years ago here in Albany. And so they have had a real good demonstrative track record of rural safety and rural service orientation,” says Austin.
For Current Chief Operations Officer, Charles Porter, he’s excited to show the community what Gold Star can bring to the table.
Porter tells us, “It kind of goes along with what we’re already doing. Got ambulances in different towns, and we’re probably going to be able to help them in many ways that they weren’t being helped before.”
Porter goes on to say that while transporting a patient is never easy, he wants the public to know that patients will be in the best care.
“It’s something that happens more than we would know. And the fact that they have the confidence in us to move people around to other facilities, I hope that gives people great confidence,” says Porter.
According to Porter, Gold Star is projecting to move on average, around 700 patients a month.
