Phoebe expands tele-health to include Urgent Care
(ALBANY, GA) – Back in February, the Phoebe Health System announced that they would be performing Primary Care tele-health appointments ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of this week, the health system has been able to increase that to include Urgent Care as well.
“For their kind of care during the pandemic, it’s been going well. And since it worked so well for Primary Care, we thought it made sense to roll it out for Urgent Care, which is what we’re doing right now,” explains PhoebePrimary Care and Family Medicine Clinical Assistant, Dr William Fricks.
The procedures for signing in for Urgent Care are the same as those seeking Primary Care with logging on to speak with a doctor.
For those who’ve been uneasy about going back into an exam room to meet with a doctor for sudden problems, the tele-health for Urgent Care will be on the same level as Primary Care.
Dr Fricks tells us, “A lot of times, people will delay their care because of their jobs, they can’t get off, it’s inconvenient to sit around and wait for an appointment. But with tele-health, you can be at home, be at work, and quickly jump on.”
As Phoebe incorporates Urgent Care into their tele-health services, the health system is hoping that this will be a good means for the time being to keep Urgent Care patients in touch with Phoebe doctors.
“Nationally, we’ve kind of been held up in making that big leap to tele-health. This isn’t unique to just our community, but it helps everyone to make that leap to providing better access and more convenient care for patients everywhere,” says Dr. Fricks.
Urgent Care patients can sign up through Phoebe’s app on iOS and Android.
