Pics2ELDORADO, GA – The GBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in the Eldorado community of Tift County. GBI agents say it happened in the 1400 block of Tifton-Eldorado Road Friday morning where a confrontation occurred between responding deputies and two suspects. The GBI says the two were reportedly going house to house and knocking on doors. Tift County deputies responded to a 911 call pertaining to the two men. Agents say one of the two suspects opened fire, striking one deputy multiple times. Another deputy returned fire, hitting the gunman. Both shooting victims at last report were listed in serious condition. Tift County’s Sheriff Department tells South Georgia Television News their deputy’s wounds are not considered life-threatening. A second suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
