Nurses and Physicians come to Phoebe to help relieve staff

ALBANY, Ga. – A Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) from the Department of Health and Human Services arrived on Phoebe’s main campus in Albany.
The team is comprised of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists and paramedics.
The 39 healthcare workers will be deployed in Albany until May 3.
“It’s been very helpful as we’re continuing to care for the COVID patients to help provide that extra patient care and also to provide some relief for our nursing staff,” says Chief Nursing Officer at Phoebe, Evelyn Olenick.
Olenick says personnel from the DMAT are working 12 hour shifts with no days off to give the Phoebe staff some much needed relief.
