Newly awarded grant to be used for trauma equipment

DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. – The Dougherty County Commission accepted a $12,000 grant that can be used for new equipment for ambulances.

This will allow Dougherty County Emergency Medical Services to purchase and replace equipment like traction splints for adults and backboards.

Any purchases made with the grant funds is required to be trauma-related equipment.

“It helps us to buy needed equipment on the ambulances so that we keep the most up-to-date and good equipment for trauma patients. When you use equipment everyday and it gets worn and it needs to be replaced so this helps us instead of having to get it out of the general fund balance, we’re able to use the trauma grant money to update equipment,” says Dougherty County EMS Director Sam Allen.

This came at no cost to the City as no local match is required to receive the funds.
