New, $2 million dollar span replaces predecessor built in 1963

FORT GAINES, GA- The new First Kolomoki Road bridge over North Prong Kolomoki Creek on the Clay/Early county line is expected to open by the end of the day.

The new, $2 million bridge replaces one that was built in 1963. Georgia Department of Transportation programs replace outdated, substandard bridges that aren’t on the state highway system.

This helps reduce the number of county road bridges that are posted for weight limits or had to be closed due to poor condition.
