Neighborhood reacts to Thursday night shooting

(ALBANY, GA) – 20 year old, Malik Ford was shot on Hickory Lane in South Albany Thursday evening before succumbing to his injuries Friday morning. We caught up with neighbors who spoke about Malik’s death.

For a couple of young women, they rushed right up to crime scene after hearing shots fired.

Ford’s neighbor, Decasia Williams told us, “When I got out of the show, I ran down there, see what happened. And I see he was on the ground, screaming and hollering, cause he was hurt.”

“…I heard gunshots come all down our street… so I see everybody standing outside, police came. So I walked down to where everyone was surrounding at, and I just see him on the ground, bleeding out…,” recounts Janaise Bradley.

We spoke with neighbors off camera, many of whom knew Malik, and are wondering when the violence is going to stop.

Janaise tells us“It’s kind of traumatizing. It could’ve been anybody, cause they were just shooting freely. It’s devastating.

“Children were outside playing, they just came out shooting. That bullet could’ve hit anybody, and it got him. I don’t know why they did it,” says Williams.

No suspects in the shooting have been announced at this time.
