Murder suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of Albany teen

ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Police department announces the arrest of the suspect in the May 6, 2020 shooting death of a 16-year-old.
Martez Thomas 21, developed as a suspect less than 24 hours after the Robbery/Homicide and Gang Unit partnered to investigate the case.
He was transported to the Dougherty County Jail after being interviewed and was charged with Felony Murder. Additional charges are pending.
On May 6, APD Officers responded to Turnerfield Road and Meadow Drive after receiving a call about a shooting. On scene, officers located a Honda Accord struck multiple times by gunfire and 16-year old Jaylin Stanford still inside deceased. Three other injured victims were all transported to the hospital.
