Multi-agency drug bust in Albany leads to multiple arrests
ALBANY, Ga. – A multi-agency drug investigation in Albany has led to several arrests and the seizure of large amounts of drugs and cash.
According to the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office and Albany Police Department, the Albany-Dougherty Special Investigative Unit assisted the Criminal Investigative Bureau with an investigation on March 21 at a home on Mossydale Lane.
Authorities say a search warrant at the residence led to the seizure of approximately 135 pounds of marijuana, about 250 grams of cocaine, a small amount of spice, more than 150 sildenafil pills, nearly $10,000 in cash, along with a safe and money counters.
Investigators arrested 47-year-old Benelius Paige, who faces multiple charges including trafficking in cocaine and marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects. A second suspect, 21-year-old Machia Morton, was also charged with trafficking and multiple drug-related offenses.
During the investigation, authorities executed a second search warrant at a home on McLain Lane, where they recovered an additional 17 pounds of marijuana, spice, cocaine, and ecstasy pills.
Police say 32-year-old Viridiana Manzano was arrested in connection to that location and faces several charges, including trafficking in marijuana and possession of controlled substances.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests may be possible.
