Moving on up: Tift County promotes Jennifer Walls as head softball coach
TIFTON, GA – Friday morning, Tift County would announce Jennifer Walls as their newest head softball coach, replacing Taylor Barber.
Walls spent the past season as the Lady Devils’ assistant coach, but is already excited to take over as the skipper.
“I’m excited to see where this program goes,” Walls said. “I’m excited to see this talent grow, and just get back into teaching the basics and fundamentals.”
She’s no stranger to the Friendly City either as her previous stop was at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where she was the head softball coach there from 2015-2023 – winning the conference’s Coach of the Year twice, and coaching the team to a conference championship victory in 2019.
“The structure, the discipline and just hopefully the want to and the buy in that helped us over there, bring it here,” Walls said. “We’re going to go back to basics and that’s what we did at the college. I like to keep things simple, nothing fancy. Hopefully, that will translate to us having a successful season.”
The Lady Devils are coming off an 11 and 15 record in Barber’s fourth season with the team, but Walls already sees the potential for this team to quickly become a threat to the region.
“Facing some good, tough teams will get us ready for our league.”
