Moultrie Municipal Airport granted $300,000 for safety improvements

MOULTRIE, Ga. – Tuesday, the City of Moultrie ok’d giving a $300,000 grant to the Moultrie-Colquitt County Airport Authority for airport improvements.

This grant, coming from the city’s airport fund, will go toward a $2.8 million south-end runway safety area  project at the Moultrie Municipal Airport.

AA Chairman Mike Boyd says the improvements going into the airport are an important part of Moultrie’s economic development.

Boyd says, “An airport is a very important part of it because what it does is businesses are in an instant gratification situation because we have instant communications wherever we’re at and because the speed of our world has sped up, most businesses move with aircraft.”

The $300,000 grant will come at $50,000 a year for the next six years.
