MOULTRIE, Ga. – The city of Moultrie’s Utility Department completed repairs on a major water main break and restored water to affected areas around 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Marked areas to follow “boil water advisory” source: city of Moultrie

Part of the city is now under a “boil water advisory” until otherwise notified that the water system has been restored to full operation.

The areas include Waffle House, Subway, Taco Bell, Lowe’s, Convenient Care, Classic Collision, Colquitt Square, Southern Regional, and CCHS.

Elvira Gibson, Director of Utilities for the city of Moultrie says citizens should “boil water for a minute or until it’s clear to consume.”

She says the department has to “wait at least 24 hours to get the results back from the test and as long as everything is clear we can rescind the boil water advisory but until we’re clear we will be under the advisory.”

The 12-inch water main break is believed to be caused by defective or damaged material at installation.
