Moultrie announces Mathis swearing in ceremony

MOULTRIE, GA – The city of Moultrie announced Wednesday that Mayor William McIntosh officially swore in Margaret J. Mathis to represent District 1, Post 2, of the Moultrie City Council.

A Colquitt County native, Mathis is excited to begin service. A press release stated that her biggest wish is to serve her district with humility and care and always be available to the people of her district. “I will always have a listening ear,” she said.

Mathis isn’t a newcomer to the council, she filled the remainder of Councilman George Walker’s term after his death in 2011. On her return to service, she stated, “I thank God for the opportunity to serve again.” She noted that she is familiar with the expectations of the position and is eagerly anticipating working with others for the betterment of the city of Moultrie.
