(ALBANY, GA) – The City of Albany is moving forward with long awaited improvements to one of their major parks.

Martin Luther King Jr Park was approved for cleanup, as well as resurfacing in the coming weeks.

Ward Six Commissioner, Demetrious Young says there’s still some debris in the park that was left over from when Hurricane Michael hit in 2018.

The Albany City Commissioner also spoke about the possibility of an outdoor gym for the park, which he believes citizens could use given the current pandemic.

Young tells us, “”We know we have a lot of folks with underlying health conditions, and those are the type of things we want to turn around. And a resource like the MLK walking trail is something we desperately need to utilize.”

Commissioner Young says resurfacing will begin on August 15th.
