Mitchell’s missing bond money arrest

CAMILLA, GA-  The GBI is investigating the alleged theft of cash bond money in Camilla, Georgia.

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct an independent investigation on January 18, 2022. 

During the investigation, it is alleged that Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office employee Frances “Sue” Lloyd took cash money from payments of various bond fees. 

A felony warrant was issued for Lloyd for one count of theft by taking. 

An audit is currently in progress to determine the total amount missing. 

Additional charges are expected to be presented to a Mitchell County Grand Jury when the case is completed, and a final total amount of the theft is determined.

The 61 year old suspect was booked into the Mitchell County Jail on the charge on February 22, 2022.

Once the investigation and audit are complete, the case file will be given to the South Georgia Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
