Miss Albany and AAPHC donate 300+ books to Albany school

(ALBANY, GA) – It may not seem like much, but students at Alice Coachman Elementary School are getting hundreds of additional books thanks to Albany Area Primary Care, as well as 2020 Miss Albany, Jillian Hanna.

She says, “These schools getting these books in clinics like we are in here, it’s vital for these kids because a lot of these kids don’t have these resources at home. They don’t have the opportunity to read these books and have these materials.”

Both Hanna and Primary Care donated 320 books to the school’s health center as a means of inspiring more kids to pick up a book, and read.

Vanessa Kurtz with Albany Area Primary Care tells us, “We try to give out a book to at least every child for every health visit, this way they have something they can take home, look at, read along with their parents or their brothers and sisters.”

Both Albany Area Primary Health Care and Jillian cannot stress the importance of getting books into the hands of children.

“To be able to donate these books to these students is something I’m very passionate about and i’m very thankful to do as Miss Albany,” says Hanna.
