Low voter turn out for special election

Voter turn out by precinct as of 5:30 p.m.

LEESBURG, Ga. – Voter turn out for the special election Tuesday is lower than expected.

Veronica Johnson, Director of elections and registration for Lee County, says she’d “hoped for a bigger turnout.” She says that her office has been monitoring the precincts today and that there’s an 11-12% turnout rate.

Citizens of the nine counties that are voting today have until 7 p.m. to cast their ballots.
