Local nurse donates supplies to healthcare workers in need

TIFTON, Ga. – One nurse at Tift Regional Medical Center is unable to work during this pandemic due to having an immunocompromised disease. But her inability to be in the hospital during this dire time, hasn’t stopped her from helping her coworkers that are on the frontlines.
“With seeing my coworkers in need, it was something I was always taught, if you see somebody in need and you can do something, then you need to do something,” says Leigh Ann Reed.
Reed is collecting disinfectant wipes, spray, laundry sanitizer and hand sanitizer to donate to busy medical professionals.
she says these supplies are vital for people who spend their days in hospitals or around the sick.
“So they have items to decontaminate themselves before they bring items into their house or their vehicles after they’ve completed shifts.”
But shopping for supplies can be difficult depending on their schedules.
Reed says her situation allows her to collect supplies while her coworkers are clocked in.
“I have a better opportunity of getting out earlier to collect these items because my coworkers are at the hospital and they can’t leave until later on and by the time they get to a store, all of these items are completely gone.”
Reed hopes her actions inspire others that can donate to help.
“If you know of a healthcare worker and you can get to a store, and if you can buy an item that can help tremendously.”
If you have supplies that you would like to donate, you can contact her at lreed4au@yahoo.com or send/drop off donations at UGC life 4144 U.S. 41 S, Tifton, GA 31794.
