Juarez rushed in after the women and was able to hold on to the woman until first responders rescued them in a boat. Juarez says it was honor to be recognized alongside the brave firefighters.

“I was actually thinking about this today, [the firefighters] recognized me for something they do all the time, it felt great.”

Juarez will be receiving a proclamation of heroism on behalf of the county commission.
