Local health officials discuss COVID-19
(ALBANY, GA)- Albany and Dougherty County health officials confirmed late Wednesday afternoon that Phoebe Hospital has been treating two cases of the virus.
The cases of the virus had been documented by health officials: one person was kept in quarantine by Phoebe after coming from the Metro Atlanta Area.
The other person is still quarantined at Phoebe.
Officials with both the department of public health and the hospital spoke about continuing to wash your hands to prevent the spread of the virus, and changes to the hospital’s visitation rules.
Phoebe Director of Emergency Medicine, Dr. James Black tells us, “So we’ve gone through each of the functions that goes into our hospital and which are critical in the day-to-day operations of the hospital. In an effort to reduce necessary foot traffic that we can postpone or place on hold for a short or medium amount of time.”
Health officials are urging the public not to panic to wash your hands thoroughly and follow CDC recommendations.
