Local business giving back to homeless veterans on a monthly basis

(ALBANY, GA) – Members of the community are coming together to try and help homeless veterans by giving them food and warm clothes.

Southwest Georgia Cremation Services owner, Natalie Molden says they started in December, and wanted to make this a monthly event.

“We’ve decided to carry on and do this every month. So people need to know, especially our veterans, that they can come out every month, and have soup, a sandwich, and a cup of joe with us,” says Molden.

It’s not just people who work at cremation services who are helping down on their luck vets. They’re getting help from other local veterans as well as the American egion.

Post 30 Commander, Dr. Daniel Brewer stopped by Monday morning and says, “Our local veterans are in need. There are so many of them who are in need. And some times, it’s just the little things, like a blanket that means so much to a veteran in need.”

“It’s a big difference in doing it one time. You know, you do it once, and then the veterans try to find somewhere else. Here it’s kind of like a rotation. They can come here once a month, get something to eat. Start a dialogue with people…,” says local veteran, Dramoski Franklin.

For a local business to step up and help homeless veterans on a monthly basis is a large step in the right direction for getting them the support they need.

“To do this and for people to care and to take the time, is really a big deal for our veterans and it’s a big deal for our community,” says Dr. Brewer.
