Lee’s meth & fentanyl arrests
One suspect jailed in Lee, two more awaiting transfer

LEESBURG, GA – Lee County deputies say a trio of suspects are in custody following a March 9th traffic stop where drugs and drug related objects were discovered.
Lee County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Eddie Burgess identifies the three as Cameron Cox, Kelly Clay, and Taylor Freeman.
During the course of the stop, deputies conducted a probable cause search which led to the seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl, needles, and other narcotic equipment. Cox and Freeman both gave deputies false names and dates of birth in an attempt to conceal their identities due to having active warrants.
Freeman went as far as to produce a stolen ID card belonging to another woman and was successful in portraying herself as the other woman to deputies at the time. Deputies were able to positively identify Cox and took him into custody without incident. A short time later, all three subjects began exhibiting opiate overdose symptoms which required them to be treated by EMS and transported to the hospital for further treatment. Each subject was later released from the hospital and warrants were taken for their arrests.
Cox was arrested on 03-29-2022 by the Albany Police Department on his outstanding arrest warrants and other charges unrelated to this case. Cox remains in the Dougherty County Jail and is awaiting transfer to Lee County.
On 03-31-2022, LCSO investigators were able to positively identify Freeman during further investigation of this incident and reviewing body-camera footage from the scene. Investigators obtained arrest warrants for Freeman on 04-01-2022.
