LEE COUNTY, Ga. – In a post to Facebook, the Lee County Chamber of Commerce says they’ve decided to move forward with preparations for the area’s annual Christmas Parade.

The post reads:

The parade will be held Saturday, December 5, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The parade route will proceed from the Lee County High School down Main Street and end at the Lee County Courthouse. The streets will be marked off as usual and allow for families to either stand along the parade route or, in some areas, remain in your vehicle, to view. We will also be sharing on Facebook Live for those who choose to stay at home. It will also be televised by the Cordele station sometime the week of Christmas.

The post goes on to say that given the current situation with COVID-19, and any possible changes with mandates, “Please know that it is possible that it may become necessary to cancel the event. The health and safety of our community is of upmost concern and a priority. We urge those who choose to attend, to take the necessary precautions and guidelines, to keep you, your family, and your community as safe as possible. PLEASE stay home if you are not feeling well.”
Officials are asking that people bring a bag for your child to collect candy to reduce contact. They ask that those handing out candy wear gloves and masks.
This year, there will not be a festival after the parade to limit contact and encourage social distancing.
