Leary fatal fire cause still under investigation

LEARY, GA – Two weeks after a deadly blaze of a Leary home, Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner John King’s office has yet to make a determination as to what may have sparked the fire.

Thursday, King’s office revealed some details in the August 13th fatal fire of a Highway 55 residence in Calhoun County.

The blaze happened in the early morning hours, responding firefighters found the person deceased around 3:00AM as they fought the flames that eventually consumed the 81 year old building.

The victim has yet to be identified but the body is set to undergo an autopsy at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur.
