Kinnamon announces bid for Americus mayoral rac

AMERICUS, GA – In an Aug. 9 Facebook posting, Lee Kinnamon announced his candidacy for mayor of the city of Americus.

“It is an enormous responsibility that I take very seriously, and I welcome your ideas and your support. It has been a privilege to devote nearly thirty years of my life to serving our community as a teacher in the Sumter County School System, and now I hope to continue serving as the next Mayor of Americus,” Kinnamon said.

The retired Sumter County teacher cites his experience serving on numerous boards and authorities as well as state authority overseeing the SAM Shortline excursion train as providing experience, qualifying him for civic service. Kinnamon is a sixth-generation resident of Sumter County, and has been married to Karen, a retired Sumter County educator, for 31 years.
