Kidnapping suspect still at-large

(ALBANY, GA) – The Albany Police Department are once again searching for kidnapping suspect, 24 year-old Tristian Brown, who was last spotted at the corner of Palmyra Road and 9th Avenue Tuesday, after he walked out of Phoebe Putney Hospital.

Brown was initially caught Sunday Night in Sylvester by Worth County deputies, who brought him to Phoebe Putney here in Albany to treat a gunshot wound Brown suffered while being taken into custody.

Wednesday, Phoebe Health System released a statement in lieu of our interview request, regarding the security of police suspects and/or prisoners and who is responsible. Phoebe’s statement to this is…

“If a law enforcement agency is aware that a criminal suspect is being cared for in a hospital, it is up to that agency to decide whether to take custody of the suspect and provide guards for the length of the suspect’s hospital stay. No hospital is permitted to restrain a patient or keep a patient against his or her will simply because the patient may be a suspect in a crime.” unquote

In addition to reaching out to Phoebe Putney Hospital, we reached out to the Albany Police Department for their policy on handling hospital custody suspects.

Police Information Officer, Phyllis Banks-Whitley tells South Georgia Television News, “Tristian Brown was not in our custody, and was not their responsibility to secure. Had Albany Police been the arresting agency of the suspect, an officer would have been posted at the hospital to stand guard.”

At last report, Brown is still at large, last seen wearing a hospital gown and yellow socks.

Anyone with any information should immediately contact the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100.
