KADB celebrates Arbor Day with Morningside Elementary

(ALBANY, GA)- In Albany, Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful kept up their Arbor Day tradition of planting a tree at a local school.

This year, 5th grade students from Morningside Elementary got the chance to pick up a few shovels.

Along with KADB and the Georgia Forestry Commission, students planted a 30 gallon live oak tree on the schools grounds.

Executive Director, Judy Bowles says that a day like today can make a major impact to the environment and to students

Bowles tells us, “We’re teaching them how important the trees are to their lives. But the tree behind me, and the kids who planted that tree, will come back here in 10 to 15 years, they’ll bring their children with em and say ‘I planted that tree'”

Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful will be hosting an Arbor Day planting event for the county Saturday morning at 9:30 at Putney Park.
