Irwin County introduces new head football coach Larry Harold

OCILLA, GA – Irwin County Schools is excited to announce the hiring of Larry Harold as the new head football coach for the Irwin County Indians.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Larry Harold to our Irwin County family,” said Superintendent Kerry Billingsley. “His extensive coaching experience and dedication to student-athletes make him the ideal leader for our football program. We are confident that he will inspire our players to reach their fullest potential and elevate our team to new heights.”

With an impressive coaching resume that spans over a decade in high school football and experience at the collegiate level, Harold brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the program.

He previously served as head coach at Macon County High School, Brunswick High School, and most recently at Central Gwinnett High School. His coaching tenure includes not only high school football but also experience on the collegiate level. He coached in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) at the University of Tennessee, where he honed his skills to develop athletes at multiple levels.

“I am honored to take on the role of head football coach at Irwin County Schools,” Harold said. “I look forward to building strong relationships with the players, coaches, and the community while working tirelessly to continue a winning program. Together, we will strive for excellence on the field and in the classroom.”

Over the past ten years, Harold demonstrated his ability to build competitive programs and foster a positive team culture. He is particularly known for his role in the development of standout players, including Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith, whom he coached during his high school career. Coach Harold’s commitment to player development, both on and off the field, aligns perfectly with the values of Irwin County Schools.

Coach Harold is married to Danielle Harold and together they have four children: Larry III (14), La’Myah (12), Levi (10), and Liam (8).
