Illegal dumping up in Dougherty County
(ALBANY, GA) – The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a growing problem in Dougherty County: illegal dumping.
Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful Director, Judy Bowles says that over the last few months, there have been more than a dozen illegal dump sites popping up across the county.
Bowles says that in addition to causing blight in populated parts of the city of albany, the illegal dumping is also drawing unwanted pests into the city.
She tell us, “That is a safety and a health hazard for us cause those stacks of debris can bring in snakes, and rats, and roaches.”
Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful also wants to remind county residents that they can dump up to 250 pounds of garbage at the landfill a day.
