A month before he was killed, Michael Emmaneual Swinton had sent his wife a text, saying: “If I die, just make sure that my kids know that I love them.” Three days before his death, he saw his family for the last time on an unusually early morning video call, but he “sounded different,” his wife says. “He said that he loved me.
