(LKL) NATIONWIDE PROTESTS PLANNED OVER ICE KILLINGS
Tens of thousands of protesters are expected to take to the streets across the country on Friday in response to the killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by federal law enforcement agents. Organizers of the “National Shutdown” are urging participants to avoid participating in work, school and shopping in order to send a message to Washington: stop funding ICE. Regardless of the actual size of the protests, University of Chicago Professor Robert Pape says that it’s essential that the protesters remain peaceful for their message to be heard. “This seems like a moment in history where the tide of the public can’t be denied, this turns on it staying peaceful,” Pape says. “That is what’s crucial.” Correspondent Leigh Waldman has all the details in a 3pET PKG with FREE custom talkbacks from New York City.
