HEALTH MINUTE: WHAT TO KNOW ON LEGIONNAIRES’ DISEASE

Five deaths have now been reported as part of a cluster of Legionnaires’ disease cases on New York City’s upper east side. Health officials say they’re continuing to inspect every cooling tower that tested positive for the legionella bacteria, but they continue to believe that any source of exposure is now eliminated. A total of 82 cases have been reported as part of this cluster and eight people remain hospitalized.
