Up to half of all U.S. women will develop a condition called pelvic organ prolapse over their lifetime, but doctors say it’s a subject that remains taboo. It happens when pelvic muscles and tissues weaken causing organs like the bladder and uterus to drop from their normal position. In severe cases, surgery can help, but the traditional procedure is considered invasive and involves a long hospital stay.
