HEALTH MINUTE: CHILDREN QUICKLY OVERHEAT IN HOT CARS
Two more young U.S. children died in hot cars this past week. NoHeatStroke.dot.org reports a 7-month-old girl was found in a Utah car that had reached an interior temperature of 94 degrees, and the body of a one-year-old Georgia boy was discovered in a car that hit 88 degrees. A majority of hot car deaths happen because someone forgets a child in a vehicle, but it’s preventable. In today’s Health Minute, Mandy Gaither has a plea from a pediatric emergency medicine physician, urging parents to take specific steps to prevent these tragedies.
