Former Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall reacts to the news OpenAI announced a deal with the Pentagon amid its feud with Anthropic. He says including safety principles, like prohibitions on domestic mass surveillance, in an agreement doesn’t necessarily mean they bind the government. He adds that without seeing the full contract it’s unclear what OpenAI agreed to.
